Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 social elections are postponed.
Social elections are held every four years to elect the employee representatives who’ll take a seat in the company’s Works Council and/or Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 social elections will no longer take place in May 2020. On 23 April 2020, the Chamber of Representatives approved the Act to postpone the social elections, effectively suspending the procedure after date X+35 (normally situated between 17 and 30 March 2020).
A Royal Decree of 15 July 2020 determined that the social elections will instead be organised during the period from 16 November 2020 up until and including 29 November 2020. The social elections proceedings will be rebooted as from date X+36, which is situated between 23 September 2020 and 6 October 2020, depending on the chosen election date.
